September Wrap Up – 2017

Hello Lovelies!

I had a pretty good reading month in September, I think, and I wanted to talk to you guys a little bit about what I read.

One Day We’ll All Be Dead and None of this Will Matter: This was a 5* read for me. I found it really hilarious, relateable and approachable. I really enjoyed it and I totally recommend it.

The Fifth Season: This was about a 3.5* read for me. I found the story interesting enough but I found the writing to just be ok and basic while I really wanted something magnificent and grand. I loved the discussions on relationships, love, gender & race but it kind of fell short for me.

Stranger Beside Me This book was 4* for me. I was really interested and invested in the book, I found it very engaging and well-researched. I have seen people state that she put herself too much into the story but I found this to be unfair because we have to consider the perspective she’s coming and writing from. She knew and was friends with this person, we have to expect that she will be a solid part of the book as well.

The Cuckoo’s Calling This is like a 4* book for me and was a re-read. I watched Strike the BBC mini series and really enjoyed it and got in the mood to reread them so I got this one on audio book from Overdrive. I don’t think these are the best mysteries ever but I love the characters so I really enjoy these overall.

Mundo Cruel This book ended up being about 4* for me. At first I thought it would just be tittilating, shocking and jarring but the more I read the more I saw how much heart and irony it has in discussing how the Puerto Rican and Latinx culture view homosexuality. It is also wholeheartedly Boricua which I love.

What did you guys read this past month?

If you would like to hear more of my thoughts on these books, please consider watching my video!

Thanks guy!
